A Midnight Delivery for Checkers Sixty60

The Project

This self-initiated spec commercial for Checkers Sixty60 was written and directed by Lyndon, one of our in-house directors. We wanted to step outside our usual outdoor and action-led work, and create something built around comedy, timing and character.

Shot near our Woodstock studio, the film was a chance for us to test what a small, committed team could achieve with a strong idea.

The Challenge

With a two-person crew on the night, every decision had to be intentional. Lyndon and Joshua Snyman spent two pre-production days testing lighting and working through the location before the shoot.

The night also demanded flexibility: a cast member dropped out on the day, with Mark Penwell stepping in at the last minute, and the shoot ran until just after midnight.

The Approach

We kept the production nimble, focusing on performance, rhythm and creating a polished comedic world with limited resources. Jude Schabort joined the team on the night, while Alex Smillie completed the sound post-production, helping tie the film together.

The finished piece was shared with the Checkers team and received a warm response. More than anything, it was an important project for us: a chance to take a creative risk, sharpen our process, and prove that a small team can still make something memorable.
