Almost Like a High

I grew up skating the streets of Cape Town, and Karl Van Antwerp was part of that world. Years later, this spec piece became an excuse to reconnect with those old routes, revisit familiar spots, and capture the feeling that made skating so much fun in the first place.

We approached the film as a small, run-and-gun production, moving through the city with Karl and chasing energy, movement and spontaneous moments as they unfolded. It was also a chance for me to experiment with new shooting techniques and create something that felt loose, fast and nostalgic.

A little love letter to skating, friendship and the city that shaped us.
